How will Christine Bleakley adjust to her new family role?
In a matter of months, Christine will become stepmother to Frank Lampard’s two daughters.
She’s due to marry the Chelsea footballer this year.
And it seems she’s adjusting to her new family role rather well.
The former Daybreak presenter was spotted leaving the ITV Studios with the full family in tow.
I think she has a tough job on her hands, as does any step parent, but having to do that in the public eye with a footballer? I am not sure I would wish that on anyone.
Here are my tips for Celebrity Parent new step mum Christine
1. Tame those Parenting Gremlins
Get those gremlins out in the open; as a step parent you will have many! What is the story you are telling yourself? Bring your story out in the open, meet those gremlins head on and acknowledge them. Write out the whole story and read it every day for a week.
2 .Facts and Feelings
When your step child appears to be winning the battle, take control of the situation and start to take charge. Find a different perspective, an objective view of the situation. Divide a piece of a paper, into two; on one side write the facts and on the other write your feelings. Now make a decision to begin to deal with the facts one by one, the smallest first.
3. Parenting Agreements
Sit down with your partner and make a list of what is important to both of you. How you are going to act as parents together? Make sure that you are both heading in the same direction.
6. Ask for what you want
Yes, you are allowed to make a list of what you want and begin to ask for it. Acknowledge that you have a place in the house and family too and that others may feel slightly uncomfortable with you.
7. Teamwork
Stop thinking of yourself and your step child as opponents at opposite ends of the ring and start to think of yourselves as a team. How can the two of you work together to achieve what you both want? After all, two heads are better than one!
